It’s now December, which means one thing: it’sssss Christmassss!
This also means that it’s now totally acceptable to basically enjoy everything Christmas-related, which includes heading to Kringle’s Toy Emporium.
This pop-up bar is located in the space where Curious Townhouse once stood. It opened its doors for the first time on Wednesday 22nd November, and will stay open until New Year’s Eve.
Serving cocktails, hot chocolate and so much more… of course I had to give it a try!
I visited after a long day of Christmas shopping (just trying to get it all done early!); and tried out a mug of Freddo hot chocolate – complete with a chocolate frog – before heading home.
The bar basically feels like Curious Townhouse, but with a Christmas makeover. I mean, I couldn’t really tell the difference. But that’s not a bad thing, because I liked Curious Townhouse.
Anyway, as the name would suggest, at Kringle’s Toy Emporium you’ll find toys in every corner of the room: rocking horses (my personal fave), Barbie dolls, teddy bears… and fairy lights strewn over everything.
The cocktails are only £6, and they’re offering free mulled wine with every purchase, although I think there are some time and date restrictions.
When I visited, they still seemed to be setting up; so I’d like to head back again at some point when they’re fully sorted out. Plus, I want to try a couple of their festive cocktails!
Kringle’s Toy Emporium is going to shut after its New Year’s Eve party, but it’s expected to open in Nottingham again next Christmas, in a different location. I guess the question is whether I’ll still be here to try and find it…?
At least Kringle’s owner – Curious Venues – has lots of bars around the city for me to carry on drinking at in 2018, including the not-so-secret Lost Property!
