My life was changed on Saturday 26th November 2016. If we’re getting into the details, it was approximately 5pm Italian time. That was because I made the single most expensive purchase in my whole life (but it was totally worth it).
On 26th November I bought the bag of my dreams: the Miu Miu Vitello tote in a beautiful shade of raspberry.
The first time I laid eyes on this gorgeous Miu Miu tote, I was 18 and had just moved to Manchester for University. My friend and I would regularly go to Harvey Nichols and Selfridges to dine on macarons and lust over all of the clothes (Alice + Olivia held a particular place in my heart).
When I saw the pink Miu Miu Vitello sitting proudly on the shelf, I just knew I had to have it (move over Chloe Paddington!).
I visited my Miu Miu practically on a weekly basis. Sometimes I’d gaze at it from afar, and other times I’d nestle it in the crook of my arm whilst admiring how well it complemented my outfit. One day, I knew I’d own it.
But at a retail price of approximately £1,500, I couldn’t justify buying it with my student loan!
Fast forward five years and I was standing in the Prada store at Serravalle Designer Outlet on the outskirts of Milan. The Miu Miu Vitello in raspberry – my dream bag! – was right in front of me.
Now I’d said to myself on the flight out to Milan that I wasn’t going to go crazy with spending (ha! What was I thinking?!). But the thing is, I’d just gotten a new credit card, and this was the bag I just hadn’t been able to get out of my mind for five whole years.
And if you can’t buy Miu Miu when you’re in Milan, then when can you?
So I bought it, obviously. And it was worth every single penny.
Made of the softest leather, my Miu Miu goes perfectly with almost everything in my wardrobe (it helps when I mainly wear black!).
It may have cost a lot, and I’m sure lots of people would be horrified at the thought of spending so much on a bag. However, it was something I’d wanted for years and years, and I certainly get my use out of it (it particularly comes in handy when eyeing up Céline bags in Selfridges!).
My Miu Miu is an investment piece, and I know it’ll be in my wardrobe for many years to come!
